TrifExtra: The Smell of Frito Feet

This week’s Trifextra asks to submit a 33 Word response, but with a tweak. Three extra words MUST be included: REMEMBER, RAIN, & REBELLION.

Do you remember Xena?

How you loved our walks?

Your rain soaked fur,

and Frito scented feet.

But your insides have staged a rebellion,

fighting an uphill battle

that I fear you may not win.

Oh, the loss of fur babies. This will hit home with anyone who’s ever experienced it, and hit hard. I recently lost my baby of 15 years. It’s a sad piece to be sure, but also one of celebration for the wonderful memories you have of her. Beautifully done.

  11. Sini says:

I wonder what upheaval the furry frito smelly Xena is upto ? Hoping its not dark and painful as it appears.

  12. So sad. That rebellion is a tough one.

  13. rangewriter says:

The Frito feet had me laughing, then the rebellion inside had me crying. Such a mood swing in so few words. Well done.

Sad that all good things/relations do not last for ever & there always is a shadow of pain & suffering behind every smile.Hope your Xena, does not have to suffer much & may she live forever in your loving hearts.

  15. I’ve heard of other dogs having paws that smell of fritos. Could it be the cornmeal in dogfood? lol I have owned and lost many pets over the years. It is such a betrayal that that cute little pup can grow old on you. You did a good job with the prompt.

  16. Sad and so loving. The Frito-scented feet is a perfect description.
